HISTORY : building on a deep foundation.
South Bay Construction (SBC) was founded in 1975 with a staff of
eight and an annual construction volume of $10 million. In 1993 SBC was reorganized under Richard Furtado (CEO). Since that time SBC grew to two hundred and twenty five (225)
employees with an annual volume approaching half a billion dollars during
1998-2001. Currently we have seventy-five (75) employees with an annual volume between
150-200 million. Our continued success has been a result of our talented staff,
our strong commitment to clients, and our expertise in innovative construction
methodology and alternative project delivery.
SBC has been providing construction services
for new shell buildings, tenant improvements, renovations, and rehabilitation
projects since our inception. Our new building portfolio is approaching 100
million square feet. However, our emphasis remains on interior improvements of
all kinds.
We have constructed hundreds of
new buildings ranging from 5,000 square foot retail buildings to 500,000 square
foot concrete tilt-ups, and from modern multi-story steel frame office
buildings to a 100-year-old rehabilitation project. We also have a variety of
experiences working with multi residential, churches, schools, non-profits and
other places of worship.
South Bay's interior improvement
experience includes very simple multi-tenant industrial interiors to very
complex office, R&D, medical and biomechanical projects including class 10
clean rooms, data centers, explosion rooms, OSHPD, scif/shielded areas and dry
rooms.
SBC is an excellent design-assist team
resource, offering value engineering, extensive sub-contractual relationships,
and years of experience in design/build projects of all types and sizes. SBC is among the Bay Area's five largest
commercial General Contractors while providing, niche specific personalized
service.
